Making a Difference
It is clear that we are all currently having to face two key challenges, the environment is top of the list as we look to protect our fragile climate for future generations. However, the cost of living crisis is also of great concern, as many are finding it hard to make ends meet.
At The Natural Burial Company we share these concerns, and are dedicated to caring for the environment, and to supporting the bereaved in every way we can. This includes providing the best possible service we can at the lowest cost. We want to ensure that you are able to provide your loved one with the goodbye you wish, without having to pay a high price.
Caring for the Environment
As one of the longest established natural burial companies we have always ensured the climate, nature and biodiversity is top of our agenda. We continue this ethos today, allowing our burial grounds to grow as nature intends, only allowing environmentally friendly coffins, caskets and shrouds, and digging all graves by hand. Memorials include bird and bat boxes, hedgehog homes, bee logs and insect homes. Native trees are planted to care for our climate, and to ensure a beautiful natural legacy for future generations. Furthermore, once our natural burial grounds are full they will be left to nature. Ensuring a beautiful place to visit and remember, whilst also maintaining the greenbelt.
Providing Value for Money
We believe that everyone should be able say goodbye in an appropriate way, without having to compromise on cost or the quality of service they will receive. Therefore, we work hard to ensure we provide a range of services, arranged and conducted personally by our caring team. Natural burial graves are in the main much less expensive than local municipal cemeteries, and memorials are chosen to also be exceptional value for money, as well as being selected to encourage nature and care for the environment.
The Natural Burial Company also help provide complete simple funeral services. These “family led services” are for those who do not wish to use the services of a traditional funeral director, but wish to arrange a more personal service for their loved one. Our team includes award winning, qualified, funeral directors, so we have the knowledge and experience to help in any way we can. You only pay for the services you require so again this minimises costs. The Sun Life Cost of Dying report 2022 states that the average cost of a burial in the UK in 2021 was £4,927. Our complete funeral service costs, including a new full plot at the natural burial ground, start at £2,650.
We are also now able to provide direct funeral services, reducing costs even more. Direct Cremation followed by a natural interment with celebration of life for the cremated remains can be provided for £1,950, and a Direct Natural Burial can also be provided for £1,790.
We are proud of the services we provide and are dedicated to do our best for the environment and the bereaved at all times. We will never compromise on service, or our commitment to nature, the climate, and for protecting future generations.
